Buying a dining table – the table where everyone comes together
A dining table is more than just a piece of furniture: it's a place for eating, talking, working, and celebrating. At Richhome, you'll find over 700 dining tables – from round tables for two to extendable solid wood tables for twelve people. All models combine high-quality materials with a timeless design.
Round, oval, or rectangular dining table?
A round dining table encourages conversation among everyone equally and has no sharp corners – ideal for smaller dining rooms and rooms with high traffic. We offer round tables from 70 cm to 150 cm in diameter, in black, white, brown, grey, and with ceramic or marble tabletops. An oval dining table combines both: it offers the length of a rectangular table but appears lighter due to its soft edges. The white oval dining table is particularly popular, available up to 250 cm in length. For maximum seating, choose the classic rectangular shape – up to 300 cm in length.
Extendable dining table – space when you need it
An extendable dining table is the solution for those who prefer compact seating for everyday use but suddenly need to host eight guests on holidays. Our extendable tables reach up to 300 cm when extended – such as the solid oak dining table, extendable to 300 cm, or the round extendable table in grey with a ceramic tabletop. An extendable dining table is also available in white.
Solid wood, marble, ceramic, or glass
Solid wood – oak, teak, or acacia – remains a classic: warm, robust, and with a live edge, truly unique. A dining table with a beige marble tabletop looks elegant and serene, while ceramic is the easiest to care for and can withstand hot pots as well as red wine. A glass table with a chrome-plated or gold metal frame makes small rooms appear larger because the eye can see through the top. If you only want to replace the top or just the frame, you'll find both separately in our categories Tabletops and Table Frames .
White, Black, Oak, Beige, or Grey
A white dining table suits bright, Scandinavian, and country-style rooms – as a white round dining table or an oval dining table in white. A black dining table creates a strong contrast and looks particularly striking in an industrial design with a metal frame. Oak and teak bring warmth, while beige and grey remain understated. For the country style, we offer dining tables in white-grey with a visible wood grain.
What size dining table do you need?
As a rule of thumb: allow 60 cm of table width and 40 cm of depth per person. A dining table 2 meters long can comfortably seat six people, a 240 cm table eight, and a 300 cm table ten to twelve. For round tables: 110 cm diameter for four people, 130 cm for five, 150 cm for six. At least 80 cm of clear space should be left around the table so that chairs can be comfortably pushed back.
Matching chairs and additions
The dining table needs matching seating: upholstered dining chairs , cantilever chairs with armrests, or a bench that can be pushed under the table. Above it, a pendant lamp transforms the dining area into its own room within the room. Complementary pieces include sideboards & chests of drawers and display cabinets.
Common Questions about Dining Tables
What dining table shapes does Richhome offer?
What dining table shapes does Richhome offer?
We offer round dining tables from 70 to 150 cm in diameter, oval dining tables up to 250 cm in length, and rectangular models up to 300 cm. In addition, there are extendable dining tables that can be lengthened by 50 to 100 cm depending on the model. In total, the category includes over 700 tables.
How big should a dining table for 6 or 8 people be?
How big should a dining table for 6 or 8 people be?
For six people, a dining table with a length of 180 to 200 cm is sufficient; for eight people, it should be 220 to 240 cm. For round tables, this corresponds to a diameter of 150 cm (six people). A dining table 2 meters long is the most common compromise between seating capacity and space requirements.
Are there extendable dining tables?
Are there extendable dining tables?
Yes. Our extendable dining tables reach up to 300 cm when extended – for example, the solid oak extendable dining table, extendable to 300 cm, or the round extendable table in grey with a ceramic top. An extendable dining table in white is also available.
What material is suitable for an everyday dining table?
What material is suitable for an everyday dining table?
Ceramic is the easiest to maintain: heat-resistant, scratch-proof, and impervious to red wine or oil. Solid wood is the most robust and can be sanded down if necessary. A dining table with a beige marble top looks the most luxurious, but needs to be sealed against acidic liquids. Glass makes small rooms appear larger, but shows fingerprints.
Which round dining table fits into a small dining room?
Which round dining table fits into a small dining room?
For small spaces, we recommend a round table with a 110 cm diameter – it seats four people and allows enough freedom of movement. A white round dining table or a glass table appears visually lighter than a dark model. Important: allow at least 80 cm clearance around the table to walls and furniture.
Which chairs go well with a round dining table?
Which chairs go well with a round dining table?
For a round dining table, chairs without sprawling armrests are best, as they can be fully pushed under – for example, upholstered dining chairs in taupe or sand. For rectangular tables, cantilever chairs with armrests and benches also work well. You can find suitable models under Chairs.
